Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (1832-1898) was an English writer, mathemetician, Anglican deacon and photographer;

better known by his pen name Lewis Carroll.

Educated at Christ Church College, Oxford, Carroll remained there, studying and teaching, for the rest of his life. 

A student of the Royal Academy, Sir John Tenniel (1836-1914), was an accomplished cartoonist; in 1865 he was commissioned by Lewis Carroll to create the drawings for Alice in Wonderland.
