William De Morgan (1839-1917), England,  was one of the most innovative ceramic designers of his day.

A lifelong friend of William Morris, he designed tiles, stained glass and furniture for Morris & Co. from 1863 to 1872.  

He created bold yet intricate designs that were easily adapted into various domestic and public spaces.
