Miromiro, ngirungiru, Tomtit, whatever you call this sweet little bird, you have to admit it suits a red background!

Designed in by NZ artist Tanya Wolfkamp, and printed by Live Wires using vegetable based inks on paper produced from certified and audited (WMF) Well Managed Forest plantations.

Miromiro are one of five New Zealand tomtits (Petroica macrocephala).  

They live in bush all over the North Island.

Ngirungiru are their South Island cousins. 

Tomtits are distinct species of robin with large heads and small bodies. 

You may wonder if the puriri moth in the picture is also disproportionately large, but if anything the opposite is true.  

Flowers in this print are native hibiscus, clematis, manuka, ranunculus, rock daisy, kowhai, whau, Chatham Island forget-me-not, tree fuschia, hinau, ramarama and hoheria. 

Waiheke Island based artist Tanya Wolfkamp believes every object deserves equal consideration however humble and everybody should be able to own beautiful things regardless of their budget.  This idea & belief comes from her guiding star, William Morris (1834-1896).

After gaining a degree in painting from Ilam School of Fine Arts, Tanya turned to the applied arts and explored set and mural painting, textile design under the direction of  Peter. J. Hall and design directing at Codi Design.

Her approach to design is as broad as the imagery she chooses to illustrate.
