The embroidered door curtain of brown satin embroidered with coloured silks in long and short satin, stem and buttonhole stitches with French knots. The main part of the design consists of an owl with two younger ones embroidered in white and brown, perched on the branches of a pine tree worked in brown with large blue cones. There is a large crescent moon behind. At the bottom of the hanging are a series of toadstools and other plants worked in oranges, whites, greens, greys and mauve. The hanging is trimmed with purple cotton and the embroidery is worked through both layers or material. - Victoria & Albert Collections
