Designed in New Zealand by New Zealand Māori illustrator Isobel Te Aho-White.

Recommended for ages 3 years and above.

She is a descendant of Ngai Tahu and Ngati Kahungungu ki te Wairoa. 

Matariki is the name of the Pleiades star cluster and the celebration of its first rising in late June or early July.

This marks the beginning of the new year in the Māori lunar calendar.

When Matariki rises, it calls us to cluster together, to celebrate our world, our people and our home,

by remembering our loved ones, celebrating who we are today, and who we hope to be in the future.
